NEW YORK CITY "CABBIES" HAILED WITH LUNCH FAIR
LOUISVILLE, KY - KFC Corporation proclaims today "Cab Appreciation Day," honoring New York City cab drivers for handling the twists and turns of Manhattan during the busy holidays.
The chicken expert is rewarding the "accomplished navigators" with a new Twister® - a 360-degree sandwich loaded with two Extra Crispy™ chicken strips, lettuce, tomatoes and a splash of flavorful peppery mayonnaise sauce, and rolled in a warm tortilla.
The event takes place during lunch (11:30 am to 1:30 pm.) at one of Manhattan's busiest locations, the cabstand at Penn Station on 7th Avenue and West 32nd Street. Passengers in line for cabs also can "test-drive" the new wrap.
Additionally, KFC wants to use this opportunity to communicate the best way to eat the vertical sandwich, wrapped in foil designed to resemble a twister funnel.
"People love the Twister, but sometimes they get turned around on how to unwrap it," said Tim Hickey, KFC marketing director. "Who better than cabbies to offer short cuts to the first bite of our mouth-watering sandwich."
Getting To That First Bite
- Turn the Twister at a 90-degree angle, so that the twisted, coiled end faces upright.
- Tear off the coiled end of the foil to expose approximately 2 inches of the tortilla.
- Transport Twister to your open mouth and take a generous bite. Continue to peel down the foil and enjoy.
A Delicious Line-up
Twister is the latest addition to KFC's line of signature sandwiches, including: Tender Roast®, Triple Crunch®, Triple Crunch® Zinger™, Honey BBQ and its award-winning Original Recipe®. The American Tasting Institute crowned KFC' s Original Recipe sandwich with a "Best of Show" gold medal after scoring a perfect 10 in a recent taste test. KFC entered the sandwich market in September 1999. After only one year, it has captured 8 percent of the U.S.'s $5 billion sandwich market.
