National Card Contest is Solution to Winter Blues
LOUISVILLE, KY - Soon, children will be home from school for the holidays and looking for entertainment;
and parents will be scurrying to find projects to keep kids busy. KFC® offers a solution
to holiday havocencourage children to create homemade cards.
KFC® invites fourth-, fifth- and
sixth-graders around the country to enter the "All-American Salute to Mothers"
national card contest -- designed to honor mothers across the country. This year, KFC has
teamed up with Recycled Paper Greetings to produce and sell the winning card.
How to Enter
The cards will be judged based on writing, illustration, originality
and sincerity of expression all entries are due December 31st, 1999.
Send card entries to KFCs "All-American Salute to Mothers" c/o Edelman
Public Relations, 200 E. Randolph, 63rd floor, Chicago, IL 60601. For contest
information, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address above. All cards will
be returned prior to Mothers Day.
Prizes
The grand-prize winner will receive $5,000 and a trip for two to Los Angeles for
the national unveiling of his/her card. The winning card will be produced and sold
nationally by Recycled Paper Greetings. The second-place winner will receive $1,500;
the third-place winner will win $750; and seven
fourth-place winners will each receive $500. The top 10 finalists teachers will each
receive the Microsoft Encarta Reference Suite 2000.
There will be 51 state winners, including the District of
Columbia. Each state winner will receive the Microsoft Encarta Reference Suite
2000which combines the Encarta Encyclopedia Deluxe 2000, Encarta Interactive World
Atlas 2000 and the Encarta World English Dictionary. Winners also receive a KFC
"All-American Salute to Mothers" award certificate and $25 in KFC gift
certificates to treat Mom to dinner on Mothers Day.
