WINNERS SERVE UP END OF SUMMER STYLES AND SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS VIA KFC CHARI-T'S CONTEST

KFC Feeds Fashionable Aspirations to Raise College Scholarship Dollars For Deserving Students
LOUISVILLE, KY – Anne Moore from Commerce Town, Mich., Brian Harkless from Fort Worth, Texas and Stephen Glenn McClutchen from Sandy, Utah cooked up a fashionable secret recipe and have officially claimed the title of KFC Chari-T’s designers! Earlier this summer, KFC challenged fashion-forward folks to throw their hats in the ring – or designs in the bucket – to win the Chari-T’s contest benefitting KFC Colonel’s Scholars®, a charitable initiative providing students nationwide with much needed college scholarships. After many creative designs were submitted and thousands of votes were cast, these three designs were selected as America’s top choices.
With nearly 1,800 votes, Moore’s “KFC Key Words” design was crowned the Grand Prize Winner, followed by Harkless’ “Stand With The Colonel” design and finally McClutchen’s “Which Came First” design. All three top designers are receiving Kentucky Grilled Chicken for a year in the form of KFC® gift checks and for receiving the most votes, Moore will also win $3,000 to continue her fashion career.
“I chose to participate in the KFC Chari-T's Contest because it was benefitting a great cause, the Colonel's Scholars program,” said Moore. “In my design, I tried to incorporate the familiar words and phrases associated with KFC through the years to evoke images of good food and great memories with family and friends.”
Beginning today through September 14, the winning designs will be available for $15 with net proceeds benefitting KFC Colonel’s Scholars. KFC fans nationwide can purchase the Chari-T’s on KFC.com.
“The KFC Chari-T’s Contest provided America’s up-and-coming designers with a national spotlight to aid a great cause,” said Javier Benito, executive vice president of marketing and food innovation for KFC. “We appreciate their creativity and are grateful for their support of our efforts to help deserving students pay for college.”
Now in its fourth year, the KFC Colonel’s Scholars’ mission is to empower students to improve their lives with scholarship resources. Each year, a group of 50 or more students are eligible to receive up to $20,000 over four years to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited public university within their home state. In 2009, 75 students received scholarships from KFC Colonel’s Scholars. The program has awarded more than $5 million in scholarships since its inception.
